WoodMarvels.com October 2010 Review
I thought September was nuts, well, October was nuts on steroids! Wow… so much happened and I don’t even remember half of it! This is why I do these public monthly reviews at WoodMarvels.com, it’s a way for me to evaluate my business and seek new opportunities.
I had a few problems with uploading videos since I moved to China, hopefully those will get sorted out sooner than later but this month, total video views grew by a healthy 108%. Good news is I flew past 700K total video views this month 🙂 My goal is still a million by the end of the year, two months left to go, will cross my fingers!
So, what happened at WoodMarvels.com over the past month of October?
- Launched a new set of pages, press clippings, partnerships and even a page to download your own WoodMarvels.com desktop wallpapers!
- Ponoko featured two of our designs which actually lead to a surge in traffic for the Mars Rover: Opportunity design I did a while back, which has actually lead to some amazing opportunities (no pun intended) which I’ll announce about in November!
- I wrote some small articles about where I get my inspiration and a common business dilemma I have with shop owners.
- We hit 100 Youtube subscribers!
- Launched some new projects including Jerry’s amazing Reindeer sled and Piper Cherokee
- Got some press with our Platform Crane B at the NY World Maker Faire thanks to our partnership with ShopBot Tools and the 2010 Visua Impact & Image Expo in Sydney thanks to our partnership with Trotec.
- Developed some new partnerships with Hines Design Labs and we are already working on a joint project together! They also did a shot video of David Newman’s rocket attacking a tree.
- I updated the 3D animation to HD for the Medieval Tower Bank and the Apatosaurus (Brontosaur).
- We even became a reseller of Vector Art 3Ds various DVD collections!
Things are cooking!
As you can see, things were really cooking in October, not only that, WoodMarvels.com achieved a number of other goals too. Highest traffic numbers on the site (both the main site and blog), highest revenue recorded so far and highest payouts to designers. It was a great month for all!

Further solidifying partnerships, going for some new opportunities and most importantly, having fun in the process!
