Laser Cut Eiffel Tower Done!
It has taken a while but the Eiffel Tower is finally done.
I’ve had to make a few additional changes to simplify the design – which oddly enough added to the piece count! Total number of pieces for the finished laser cut Eiffel Tower is 57 and it measures 153cm high with a base that’s 51cm square.
Now that the design is complete, the next step along the process to launch is putting all these 3D files into 2D – a process that takes a few hours alone. After, creating the 3D assembly animation, “evolution of design” video and assembly instructions. The entire process usually takes about a week from start to finish so looking at things now, we are looking at having launch in about a week or two depending on what else I have on my plate here at CNCKing.com.
So, there you have it, how to design an laser cut Eiffel Tower from start to finish… I’ve found it easier to spread the design process over several weeks (design depending) as it allows a fresh pair of eyes to critique and review it each time. You can make it all in one shot but I find the quality suffers as it doesn’t have time to gel.
If you notice at the top, I’ve used a little false-perspective, so the tower appears higher than it really is because the top platform is 8mm shorter than the bottom two… the fun thing about designing your own stuff is that you can put little things that most likely, nobody else will ever notice but they represent your digital watermark on it.
