Laser Cut Eiffel Tower: Design Update 7 – Second Platform!

With the holidays and the move, have been rather bad at taking time-off regarding modeling at CNCKing.com so here’s an update to the laser cut Eiffel Tower I’m working on.

Laser Cut Eiffel Tower

So far the Eiffel Tower measures 55cm high and is made-up of 35 pieces – still lots of work to be done on it and refinements once I’m done building the preliminary structure… build from the bottom up then refine from top to bottom! This model is larger and certainly won’t be cheap to laser cut with all the details, with laser cutters, the more time it takes to cut, the higher the bill – but I think it’s very important to design a model every once in a while that just shows you how much can be done regardless of budget. The finished model should be just under a meter high and under 50 pieces which is another sweet spot as the higher the piece count, the more complex a model gets to build. I built several models with well over 200 pieces so I can say this with absolute confidence, although massive piece counts sound nice, they aren’t any fun unless you are really dedicated.

As I am still between homes so my internet is severely limited so won’t be posting much for the next few weeks until I got my broadband up and running. Additionally, more than half my stuff is still residing inside of suitcases including my workstation, as a result, not much rendering happening either but no fear – LOTS of stuff coming once I do find a permanent home across CNC plasma, table router, laser cutter and 3d printing machines!
