Japanese Miyajima Gate: New Laser Cutter Project Launch!

I went to Japan several times through the years and each time I go there, I’m awed at how amazingly clean and kind the people are there. It’s very hard to describe to somebody who has never traveled to this beautiful country how unique it really is in the world!

As I began putting my upcoming book together, I realized I needed a few more laser cut models for balance so this was one of the first ones I began thinking about while I designed the Eiffel Tower… although I stayed around Tokyo and Fukuoka during my travels there, I do have on my bucket list to drive a boat under this gate found within a waterway. Look it up on the internet to see just how massive this structure is!

When ever I design a project, I keep two things in mind – the first is having the minimal viable number of pieces to build a model as sales and basic interest in building something drops as the piece count goes up. The second is an EASY building system – if you need a billion clamps and multiday building steps it just isn’t fun! Luckily, this model was pretty straight forward and even with over a hundred pieces, as you can see from the 3D assembly animation – not all that difficult to put together even without assembly instructions!

The dimensions of this 125 piece model using 4mm (1/8) thick material is L: 540 W: 280 H: 410 (mm) or L: 21-17⁄64 W: 11-1⁄32 H: 16-9⁄64 (in) and it’s available right now in DXF, EPS and AI file formats… the PDF assembly instructions are also available at CNCKing.com for a nominal fee. Find it under Trotec Laser Cutter (heading) / Landmarks.

If you’ve never been to Japan – you are missing out big time… buy a ticket and spend a few weeks there! I’ve been to many countries around the world and this one has always been at the top of my list.
