Testimonial: Stuart’s Medieval Castle Walls (South Africa)
I absolutely love it when people send me pictures of my designs, especially when it’s for their own kids and grand-kids to play with. In this case, it’s one of my very first designs that I no longer offer on CNCKing.com – I replaced it with a far more efficient model – Medieval Castle Walls which is only available in my very first woodworking volume. You can read a bit about it here: http://cncking.com/shop-essentials/books/cnc-design-anthology.html
What’s funny is that back then, this project was HUGE for me, I had lots of simple design but wanted something mind blowing… by today’s standards, it’s nothing amazing to me but back then, wow… so much work!
Hi Jon,
I am really amazed at your service levels, I copied a mail of your Medieval Castle, misplaced the drawings, asked for help and you not only offered to help, but after asking for a photograph of what I had done you sent me the detailed drawings.I completed the castle before Christmas and gave it to my grandson Luke, who loves it. My only mistake was to leave out the dowels at the entrance. Which I will now rectify.
I attach a photo of my effort and would request I be included on your mailing list for future publications.
Again my sincere thanks,
Stuart
I designed this wooden Medieval Castle Walls to be laser cut but looking at the picture, you’ll notice no burn marks, that’s because he used a scroll saw! Interestingly, you can get almost the same level of precision (though not repeatability) with a scroll saw as with a CNC router or laser but you need a damn big one for larger pieces! He did a fantastic job… Stuart, I hope you get a CNC machine as it will greatly speed-up your production times!
It’s incredible how much I’ve learned since those early days! This was replaced with Medieval Castle Walls B… a far bigger and nicer model with a more user-friendly build!
