Sydney Harbour Bridge: New Project Launch!

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Sydney Harbour Bridge - out of wood, cut by a Trotec laser

Although I completed this model about a month ago, I’ve only released it now because it was a special secret project I did for the upcoming VIIE Sydney 2010 Show for Trotec, a leading world manufacturer of laser engravers and cutters. I’ll blog about the show later once I receive all the related media.

Working on this project actually predates the ANZAC War Memorial but the lessons I learned from this project with the two spans helped me tremendously to tackle that other project. The total size of the bridge is 53cm in length, 12cm in height with a width of 8.4cm using 6mm material.

You can find it right now at WoodMarvels.com under Category / World Landmarks / Australia, a new category I made and plan to expand upon slowly in between other projects.

This model is available in both EPS for your laser cutter, PDF for woodcraft or in physical kit form. I didn’t release the Sydney Harbour Bridge DXF file as I think there would be too much chiseling required but if somebody wants it, I’ll make it available upon request.

This bridge was a lot of fun to design and I’m sure Trotec had lots of fun putting it together once I sent them the files to cut it. A very special thanks to Trotec for showcasing it at the show and I hope to work with them again in the very near future.
