Sunglass: Internet 3D File Viewer

I’ve been watching the 3D space for quite a while and today I saw what SunGlass has achieved and was amazed… I’ve been waiting for a solution like this for YEARS!

Why is this important?

As 3D heats-up, collaborating on models – something I’ve done for a while with WoodMarvels.com and to a lesser extent, 3DMarvels.com – would really speed-up the sharing of expertise and model improvements. I want to produce a crazy amount of 3D printable projects, I’m not an expert but with enough experience, I see myself being able to help others realtime, achieve similar goals. This is important as both a source of revenue (more projects = more money) and learning other designer’s techniques.

Not just for designers!

The great thing about 3D is that you can create anything, the problem is that the learning curve is very steep and it takes YEARS to get comfortable with it – so 3D web is great because it allows the general public to slowly get comfortable seeing things in 3D rather than just a static picture. Shopping wise, both my sites are EAGER to get into 3D viewers that work and are half-decent render (quality) wise… it will boost sales further and add a whole new dimension to the shopping experience! Sort of like an in-between the 3D animations I produce and the static pictures I render for each product across the sites.

Special thanks to SolidSmack for the heads-up on this stuff – so much going on in 3D these days, hard to keep-up!
