Revver sends WoodMarvels.com a hate speech violation notice, Vimeo kicks us off their system!

Not sure why but I seem to attract hate speech violation notices from online streaming video services. The last one was from Google Video (link: Graphic, offensive, illegal and hate filled woodcrafting videos) and now it’s Revver’s turn.

Hate Speech Violation Notice

Dear i3ds,

Your video “Personal Hammer and Chisel: How to Build (HD)” (I also got an identical msg saying Halloween Guillotine Serving Tray: How to Build (HD) was also a violation) was rejected because our reviewers found it to be in violation of the Revver Member Agreement, which prohibits users from uploading hateful content. For more info on content upload guidelines, please review this section of our Member Agreement.

If you have any questions or feel this video has been rejected in error, please respond to this email.

Hate Speech Videos

Now, here are the two videos so you can view the hate speech aspects of these videos which, ironically, have absolutely no spoken words in them! My reasoning is that Revver must be run by vampires and French revolutionaries.

Vimeo kicks us off their system

On somewhat related news, Vimeo decided to cancel cancel my account with them a few days ago.

Vimeo Account Violation

Dear i3DS:

Your account has been removed by the Vimeo Staff for violating the Upload Rules of Vimeo.com

Reason: Uploading advertisements, commercials, infomercials, or videos that actively sell a product or service.

We hope you find a video host more suited to your needs. If you believe this was an error, please reply to this email in a civil manner with your reasoning (“I see other people do it” is not a valid reason).

Regards,
Vimeo

Opinion of Vimeo

This message caught me off-guard as I had been using Vimeo for I think over a year now but only NOW they decide to kick me off – my guess is the company is going through some tough times and realized it could no longer compete against YouTube.com so it’s time to get rid of some bandwidth hogs as they don’t have a method of monetizing. I have lots of respect for Vimeo though, they have amazing quality transcoding and a very dedicated community, when I do a short 3D animation related to WoodMarvels.com, I will surely get an account with them again. I don’t agree with their label regarding my videos as I have NO sales pitch at all in them nor do I consider what I do anywhere near “infomercial” status, just an animation showing assembly and a web link so people can see more.
