The power of flexx…

In roughly a month and a half I get my Trotec Speedy 400 flexx and Trotec just released a great video showcasing the power of this technology – the ability to have two laser sources in the same machine is a massive game changer in the industry especially for an up-and-coming CNC shop that I’ll be starting in a little over a month and a half. Watch this video… that’s a 100 flexx by the way – just off the assembly line!

Thanks to two power sources in one machine, I’ll be able to engrave just about any material out there as well as cut everything but metal – a weakness which I’ll be addressing the first week I get back home. Industrial cutting lasers cost a fortune but who says I need to have one to benefit from its abilities at least in the short term?

What is really nice about CNC lasers is that they remove so little material during the cutting process that it allows for incredible part optimization for kits, reducing production costs and speeding cutting times. Lasers have a finite lifespan so it’s certainly something you want to waste as little as possible.

Compared to a router, it’s also a far quieter process… thankfully I also have an awesome ShopBot CNC router which compliments this machine wonderfully from cutting custom plaques with beveled edges (something you can’t do efficiently with a laser) to cutting materials that you can’t with a laser such a vinyl due to chlorine gas release.

If you aren’t familiar with the Trotec Speedy 400, watch this video – my machine is very similar to this one but for a few mods that will better suit my intended purposes but as you saw from Trotec’s video, the possibilities are really endless when it comes to engraving and most cutting applications.

I will be attending Perth’s Trotec demo this Friday, getting some training in Australia before I head for a short vacation in China… being taught by some of the world’s premier experts (flying in for the demo no less) who have decades of experience in the laser business is just an awesome opportunity I couldn’t say no to. I’m also going to meet a good friend of mine for the first time, David Newman who’s flying down to show me some of his expertise. I then land in Canada a few weeks later with all engines full throttle.

There are so many advantages to owning a Trotec Laser, I don’t know why people buy any other brand in this market segment – be sure to give this a read… Why I bought a Trotec Speedy 400 flexx.

On a side-note, I’ve picked a name for my laser… will be easier than saying Trotec Speedy 400 flexx each time. Last blog post for a few weeks… enjoy the summer/winter depending on where you are!
