Platform Crane B: New Projet Launch!

For what I thought would be a slow month design wise… it seems to have been anything but! I’ve just completed an update to our original platform crane, the Platform Crane B! It features many of the features that made the first one popular but has been heavily upgraded and simplified to make it all the easier to build and work with. It features a very strong platform that helps support the crane for all those heavy lifts, a cockpit that rotates completely around as well as independent gantry and hook mechanism. What makes this all the better is that everything is cut from one sheet of plywood, you no longer need to make trips to the local hardware store to buy dowels!

Evolution of Design

I’m really surprised at how much I’ve learned and of course… how much I have yet to learn about design. Each project gives me that much more insight into how to efficiently make these products stronger, better and easier for the end-user. Considering the original platform crane was an incredible challenge to me, this new one was produced in a fraction of the time and without any major headaches. It’s better in every way! I can’t wait to see what my designs look like a year or two out. I’d love to add some electronics to them in the future… and get into gears.
