Onager B Siege Weapon: New Product Launch

I’m happy to announce the release of a far more powerful and stronger Onager Siege Weapon, version B! After I completed work on the first version of my Onager, I immediately wanted to make one that was more capable in every way, from customizing the power of the catapult for the material about to be thrown to the general look being far more rugged. Oddly enough, now that I’ve made two of these, I have even more ideas on how to make it yet another leap in these characteristics I’ve just described… these things are just so much fun to design 😉

Just for fun, here is a picture of the my original WoodMarvels.com Onager next to the version B, as you can see, it’s completely dwarfed even when you consider that items further away from the virtual camera appear smaller while those closer appear larger.

Which would you prefer on a battlefield?

I also gave some additional thought to the branding issue and I think, for now, just putting a small virtual name tag is acceptable. Interestingly, the leap in detail and ability shown in this picture also demonstrates how much I’ve learned from my earlier models.

This model also features a new fool-proof axle system that is far better and stronger than the original round dowels I used at the beginning followed by the rectangular ones up till a few weeks ago… using pyramid structures at 180 degree angles to one another in my opinion, makes things so much easier and stronger. I’m just getting my head around what can be done using pyramids as a support system in my models and I’m sure that shape will find its way in more of my future modeling efforts.

Anyways, you can now purchase the Onager B Siege Weapon in EPS format for your laser cutter, digital PDF and also a physical kit! The overall dimensions of this model are 29cm in length, 12cm in width with a height of 10cm with a material thickness of 6mm.

You can find this model at WoodMarvels.com under the heading of Theme / Weapons of Mass Fun! Without further delay, here is the assembly animation showing how everything goes together in brilliant 3D!
