Stratasys, founded by the husband/wife team that invented the FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) system have now taken the wraps off their newest high quality printer at just under 10K$US or you can lease it for as little as 185$US a month. I don’t have any experience with these high-end machines, only their low-end equivalents so I’m wishing them the best of luck with their new product launch!

One thing I do like about this machine is that you don’t have to use snips to remove supporting material, you just put it in a chemical bath and they dissolve away! That’s HUGE progress that is worth the cost of the machine itself! It also has a decent build size of 12.7 x 12.7 x 12.7 cm (5 x 5 x 5 in) which is similar to the other machines out there like the 3D Systems Cube and MakerBot Replicator.

Another nice thing they have managed to do is put the entire thing in a package deal, meaning you order once and get everything you need ready to go from the get-go. No assembly, no hidden fees or additional things you need once you get the machine – and the package deal includes 160 cubic inches of material production – which is a great deal!
