MK2 Rocket: New Project Launch!
In this case, I really mean LAUNCH! I’m happy to announce a new (updated) project from David, the MK2 Rocket! The first one he designed really worked with a D-cell chemical engine and based off his experiences with it, made a number of small tweeks and optimizations to use less material while building it even stronger at 6mm. It’s basically the same size except it’s thicker.
You can buy this MK2 Rocket at WoodMarvels.com in PDF woodcraft, DXF CNC router and EPS Laser cutter compatible formats. In addition, you can also buy a physical model to be cut and shipped right to your door!
Advances over the past year
I launched David’s first rocket was launched at WoodMarvels.com about 11 months ago and since then, with major software and hardware upgrades… the animation has improved TREMENDOUSLY. That being said, the launch sequence part of this animation took close to a week to render. I have no plugins (yet) to make fluid mechanics in my 3DS Max software so I had to do try to achieve similar results using crazy numbers of particles. The result though… nothing close to amazing!
