Mayan Pyramid: New 3D Printer Project!

I originally designed this Mayan Pyramid for my upcoming book, CNCKing.com: Rise of the CNC in order to prove a point that three objects could be designed using a simple a shape as a pyramid for reference… although I could go on and design a bunch more 3D printed “pyramid inspired” designs – I stopped at three.

The other reason I designed this 3d printer project for my 3D Systems Cube was to see how much detail I could achieve physically from a virtual model and I was incredibly impressed by the results. Watch the video below and you’ll see!

What I especially like about this model is how clean it comes-out… it was also a test (yes, many tests) to see if a new workflow I had established to solve many of the platform sticking problems I had in the past worked and it does. Basically, this model is a huge success on so many levels… from resolution to workflow, angles to hollow printing.
