Mars Rover Opportunity: EPS, Devolution and Laser Cut Kit Available!

Today I finished up the EPS files and made available the laser cut kit of the WoodMarvels.com Mars Rover Opportunity. An added bonus is that I did this using 3DS Max 2011 which I got just a few days ago… what a dream! Renderings are more than 2x faster and everything is so much smoother compared to the old version 6 I was using which was pushing 7 years old!

The EPS files that make up this rover required nine 6mm thick 38.4cm x 79cm plywood sheets to complete all the parts and the sheets are all loaded with parts. This is a very ambitious project for anybody wanting a serious challenge… give it a try without the assembly instructions if you really like puzzles 😉

The finished model has a length of 96 cm, width of 84 and a height pushing 52 which all changes slightly depending on what you rotate or turn on the model. I’m so happy to have this finished, a big challenge has been completed… time for some new stuff!

You can now fine the Mars Rover Opportunity at WoodMarvels.com under Category/Vehicles/Out of this world in EPS, PDF and laser cut kit format.

Today I also finished-up the devolution video for the WoodMarvels.com Mars Rover Opportunity. I’m still working on a format that makes sense but I figure this is better than nothing so enjoy!
