Mangonel Siege Weapon B

Mangonels & Flying Car Updated

I originally designed these Mangonel Siege Weapons one right after the other, the first, the far smaller one, worked very well then I decided to make a far bigger and beefier version to better suit what I think the real thing should look like on a battlefield.

There is quite a difference between these two but the structure is pretty much the same, just doubled-up and build to be dramatically stronger.

You can see more closely the difference between the two designs in the 3D animation showing how each of them come together.

The old videos making-up the Mangonels are thus retired, yet another two products brought up to date after haven been laying around for years without updated imagery or branding.

I initially went on a rendering binge years ago bringing the animations up from 480 NTSC to 720HD then 1080HDF and finally now, unifying the branding and consolidating them for easier updates down the road.

There is quite a bit of work involved with these models designing and perfecting them before going one step further and making them in real life to work out any little kinks left in the design.

That’s why CNCKing.com states clearly that these designs not only work but can actually be made using a variety of different CNCs if you know what you need to update on the file to account for the different tolerances between the various machine that can make these models come to life.

For instance, with CNC routers, tabs are required while with the laser, these aren’t needed and the fit can be made a lot tighter as a result but esthetically, I like tabs, so yes, you can totally make tabs then laser cut the model for that extra cool look.

Another thing I use to do is have separate 3D animations for router versions and laser versions, now, I’m mixing them up as really, you can laser just about anything you can router and vice versa with a few mods to the files I sell on CNCKing.com.

Going into the future now, the flying car design has also been updated animation wise to include the design evolution and assembly.

I really like how all the branding is coming together on these, all of this has been a very long time coming.

The next step after all this work is actually making videos of our router and laser making these models and comparing the resultant model made with each of these CNC machines.
