HUGE Medieval Castle coming soon @ WoodMarvels.com & Nurnberg International Toy Fair
Since I first started WoodMarvels.com, I’ve wanted to build a big wooden medieval castle but never really got around to it until Trotec Austria asked me if I could design something for them for the upcoming International Toy Fair in Nurnberg, Germany. This is a HUGE toy fair and I jumped at the opportunity to not only have one of my most complex creations cut and presented at the show, but to have such a great company using this design for their promotional activities as well! Here are some rough numbers:
- the show has 2600 exhibitors from 64 different countries
- 76 000 visitors from 115 countries
- over a million products are showcased
- 2500 journalists attend the event
Yes… it’s one of those “opportunities of a lifetime” that I just couldn’t pass-up!
Wooden laser cut Medieval Castle
This castle took me about a month on/off to design, animate, export and test. It’s HUGE in every way! I was told I could design anything I wanted as long as it fit the foundation in their display and I used every mm made available to me! The castle is made-up of 258 pieces and is about a meter long and half a meter high.
Trotec cutting video
The laser cut medieval castle was sliced and diced using Trotec’s SP1500 large format laser system which seems to effortlessly and quickly cut through 6mm MDF as if it was just paper.

What’s next?
I’m already two models “ahead of release” at this point, so lots of animating, rendering and some great new media from Trotec from the Nurnberg International Toy Fair. Exciting times as always! Ah yes, the plans and files for the model, I’ll make it available after the show… if you are up to the challenge of course!
