Halloween Serving Coffin: Cut & Build
With Halloween just around the corner, I decided to cut one of my creations, the Halloween Serving Coffin available for years at CNCKing.com!
First step is wrapping-up the plywood on both sides, yes, CNCROi.com has vacuum table plus gas kit and 2HP extraction but I prefer to have little to no post work to do after the cutting process and smoke is a killer to remove.
The bed size I have is 1 meter x infinite so this model more than fits on it with plenty of room to spare! Everything is cut in one pass using our 110W CO2 tube @ 100% power!
After everything is cut – I could have engraved this during the same process but decided against this as I’m giving it to a teacher to use in their classroom. I’ll let the kids and teacher figure-out what to put on the tombstone and what candies to put inside!
I believe there is no such thing as too many clamps, everything was left to dry overnight and once set, fit perfectly, the picture below shows the removeable coffin cover. I made this model larger because I wanted something that sits well next to the door and can be filled with tons of candy. I put a link to the 3D assembly animation below as well.
The results came out great, unlike the cars I did the other day, the glue was just perfect, not too much, not too little. I just got to get in the habbit of doing this more often! You can watch the whole video of the process, start to finish below.

If you are wondering if it’s possible to laser engrave a pumpkin, here’s proof below!
… and, here’s the 3D animation showing how it all goes together! That was posted more than 2 years ago… wow have times changed since then!
Yes, this can be cut with a CNC table router as well… just needs to be upscalled or slightly modified with dog bones and all done!
