Georgia Tech Invention Studio Lists WoodMarvels.com as a source for BIG THINGS!

You know you’ve reached somewhere in life when Georgia Tech’s Invention Studio lists WoodMarvels.com as a source for BIG THINGS to be done with a laser… a Trotec Speedy300 Laser Cutter/Engraver no less! One of their 2012 sponsors is also Autodesk, that’s the software I use to build, test and animate everything you see on the site too! Georgia Tech is renown the world over for their expertise across several technical fields.

I’m more than proud to be a role in helping shape future maker’s minds in what is possible out there!

Background Information (lifted from their site)

The invention studio is used by 15 Georgia Tech courses and over 500 students, staff, and faculty per semester use the for their classes, research projects, or personal DIY projects.  The Maker’s Club has 300 members and 50 undergraduate lab instructors (ULI’s).

The Invention Studio is a space for fabrication and hands on learning open to all Georgia Tech Students, regardless of major. The facility is free to use and staffed by ~50 volunteer lab instructors who are present 10am-7pm every day to help you with your projects.

Check out their facilities yourself… I wished I had something like this when I was in university! What a fabulous resource and it shows just how forward-thinking Georgia Tech is academically and socially – these are the jobs of the future! They even got 3D printers… WOW!

Right now I’m focused on getting CNC projects off the ground but in a month or two, switching back gears into laser (and hopefully 3D printers) as I’ll have facilities that will enable me to really make not BIG things but SUPER HUGE THIINGS with lasers! I’m amazed at just how far WoodMarvels.com has come… and has yet to go! A lot of big things happening to WoodMarvels.com over the coming months!
