Flying Car: New Woodworking Project Launch!
I fully realize it’s been over a month since the new project release at WoodMarvels.com – I’ve been busy working on pretty big project for an upcoming trade show in Europe which I’ll make public in a little over a month’s time. That being said, I took a short break and designed a flying car just to give myself a break from all the calculations required from said big project!
I’ve been designing cars almost since the very beginning, one of my first models was a “Future Car” which, looking back – seems like kid’s play compared to this latest model. Here’s the animation so you can see how much I’ve learned and progressed since then!
I can’t believe it took me DAYS to figure-out how to put this initial car together and even longer to render (hardware/software isn’t what I have now). The results are simple and it still makes for a perfect gift! The nice thing about wood projects is that they never really show their age.
I think after a few years, I’ve started to really hit my stride with what is truly possible using a laser cutter and until recently, a CNC router. The more I design, the more I want to design… a nasty habit for sure but also a very enjoyable one as each project presents new challenges and opportunities for my continued development.
You can buy this amazing wooden flying car right now at WoodMarvels.com with rotating wheels (so you can roll it on the floor) and propellers (for flight) in CNC router DXF and laser cutter EPS file formats. You can even order it laser cut and shipped right to your door or for a traditional woodcrafter, PDF file.
You can find it under Category / Vehicles / Cars and if you are using 6mm thick wood, it’s a good size with a length/width of 22cm and a height of 8cm.
