Double Feature! Future Car A & B Build
Future Car A & B are very similar so I decided to cut and assemble both concurrently. I’ve been busy in the shop doing projects for CNCROi.com clients but took a few minutes to cut out my cars while some post was going on for CNCKing.com!
First step is always masking the plywood, it gets rid of 99% of the smoke stains on the model, if you look very closely at Future Car B, you’ll notice I have a bit on the front bumper. I could have put that part on the other side so it’s hidden, glued against another chunk of ply but didn’t notice it till after I took the clamps off!
Both models cut great, my machine is starting to get a bit icky so I’ll give it a good cleaning sometime today as you can see in the vents above. The vacuum table works great for models like this as it sucks most of the smoke down instead of up where the lens is… it’s such an effective system that I’ve only cleaned my lens twice and I’ve cut and engraved hell of a lot of stuff since I got my Trotec Speedy 400 flexx a few months back!
This is what I love to see, lifting the plywood and all the pieces just come off! The challenge here is taking the tape off but far better than having to sand each piece to remove the smoke stains!
After I glue everything together, it’s time to clamp everything into place.
As you can see, I tend to put more glue than necessary… it looks fine until I stick the clamps on then it squirts from all angles. I’m the CNC King, not the Glue King!
This model came out great… some glue on the tires but nothing that can’t be easily removed.
And a nice smoke stain in the front no less! One of the simplest models I’ve ever designed but also the most fun to play with… I also made CNC router versions of these, they are bigger and just as fun… videos below!
