CNCKing.com Website Redesign DONE!
It has taken me longer than I thought it would but I’m not done the redesign of CNCKing.com. I thought it would take me a few days, ended-up taking me 10x longer but I’m very happy with the results.
Although the old site was functional, it was in bad need of an update after the merger and growth CNCKing.com has experienced through the years… so many new technologies have come out since then, I felt like the old site was like visiting an old relative instead of embracing the next generation.
At the top, the navigation now features the top 4 CNC machines we offer files for in alphabetical order, 3D printers, laser cutters, plasma and table routers. Then, I got some cool close-up shots of some designs for each category in the rotating banner with information about how to operate each CNC tool in the right. I want to focus on education as much as products as one helps the quality of the other.
For people unfamiliar with CNC machines or their differences, I now have my video introduction for them there and on each CNC machine type with the blog on the right hand side and when ever I’m around, I have the live chat running (or leave a message if I’m not) to help customers with their orders or questions.
CNCKing.com is about cool fun projects and a random stream grabbed from every project across the CNC machine types is now shown on the homepage. The old way looked awful, this looks clean and makes ordering or looking for inspiration way easier!
Then we got testimonials, a few cool 3D assembly animations and one more specific project that’s been getting some press recently. It’s quite a change from the old site (below) and I think a far more effective one at that.
This has pushed me back on product releases – especially that massive 43 minute video introducing the ShopBot Desktop that I just did last week… but these changes are for the better and I look forward to switching gears again and getting back into product design and launches! I’m very happy to has this site redesign behind me now… order away!
