CNCKing.com Video Stats: CNC Machine Overviews
CNC Machine Overviews… one of my goals this year here on CNCKing.com was to help people interested in a CNC laser, CNC table router or CNC 3D printer to get a hang on the advantages and disadvantages of each machine… how better to show this than with an actual machine! Some of these intros are rather long but to me, if you are interested in any of these CNC technologies – long form is the best form.
I want to do a bunch more of these with different CNC machines but I got the first bunch out of the way and when I get access to more equipment, plan on expanding this greatly!
The first video in the series was called CNC Machine Walkthrough: 3D Printer vs Laser vs Table Router which was great fun… I wanted something to show on the CNCKing.com homepage that would introduce machines and myself at the same time.
At over 3K views since release and an audience retention of 40% seeing at least half of this video… pretty darn good in my opinion! 20% of the people who watch this video watch it to the very end! Amazing!!!
Although most viewers (according to YouTube) are from the USA – Syrian and Latvian viewers are the most likely to watch it all the way through! Yeah, I get sales all over the place!

The next video I made was called Trotec’s Speedy 300: CNC Laser Machine Walkthough and that has almost 750 views at this point. 40% of the people watching this video watch it till the 10 minute mark with 26% watching it to the very end!
I find this incredible – compared to most of the cat videos on YouTube that attract millions of views… this video is almost 20 minutes long and yet, more than a quarter who begin watching it watch the whole thing!
In this case, although more Americans watch this video, if you are from the Philippines or South Africa – you will watch it all the way through. Even United Arab Emirates watch this video longer than Americans!
Now the last video I made in this series of CNC machine intros is of my valiant ShopBot Desktop. It’s by far the longest video I’ve ever made at almost an hour! Although it came out AFTER the Trotec video, it enjoys slightly more views at over 800 so far.
This video is the most popular in the USA, UK and Australia and 20% of the people viewing this video watch it up to 30 minutes! This drops to 10% which is pretty good considering the length of the entire video!
Not many people will sit there and watch an hour of CNC table router action – including myself! Although more Americans watch this video than any other country (seeing a pattern here), you are most likely to watch it all the way through if you are from Ireland and the Philippines.

What does this all mean?
Well, most people watching my videos WANT to watch them, they aren’t people searching for cats playing the piano and coming onto my videos otherwise the retention would be HORRIBLE. Another lesson to take from this is that videos that go past – I’d say – 15 minutes, should be broken-up into segments. I thought of doing this for the ShopBot video because it was so long but I wanted to see for myself how length affected viewership. Making an hour long video takes A LOT OF TIME and I was so happy to have that one over with… it’s pretty tiring considering the number of takes you need to make and the energy involved.
Move videos coming soon to CNCKing.com!
