Bird House D: New CNC Laser Project Launch
It’s time to give the birds a new house… this is the fourth evolution of a simple bird house I’ve done, hence the D designation. Roughly every year and a half I have to design a bird house for some reason… this one happen to be a request but I was due to do this anyways.
What I like about this design is that it shouldn’t require any glue at all, it’s a 14 piece model with dimensions @ 6 mm (1/4 inch) thick material of L: 460 W: 350 H: 300 (mm) or L: 18-7⁄64 W: 13-25⁄32 H: 11-13⁄16 (in).
All the parts interlock which makes this project kinda fun, I look forward to cutting it with a laser soon – until then, get your own at CNCKing.com and send me off some pictures. As always, be sure to measure wood thickness before cutting to scale everything accordingly – this makes sure you get a perfect fit.
Can this project be CNC table routed? Of course, it would require a few slight modifications due to the tolerances involved (or you can use a bit smaller than 1/8 inch)… of course, you could also cut this model using a scroll saw!
Birdhouse D: 3D Assembly Animation (1080HD)
Head over to CNCKing.com right now, you’ll find it under CNC Laser / Outdoors or Buildings… enjoy! It’s available in DXF, EPS and AI file formats and would look great in acrylic though I wonder if birds would move in if it was made out of clear acrylic! Something to try for sure!
