Bird House D: 3 minutes on a Trotec Speedy 400!
Something I really need to do more of on CNCKing.com is giving people ideas about cut and engraving times on the over 250 CNC projects on the site… there is so much potential I haven’t had time to tap yet!
I know I have the file name wrong – I copied this over from another file for speed, but what you see above is the estimated cutting time for my Bird House D that I recently released – half scale. I designed it for 6 mm plywood but this thing is really massive and small birds really need something more cozy – 3 mm is more than adequate using an 80 Watt tube!
As you can see, I don’t have a very well optimized set-up – I could shave down the time by using shared lines, have the cutting start at the top left etc… I’m sure I could cut this down by another 30-45 seconds no problem. That’s the beauty of a virtual setup, you can play with options and parameters without wasting material or machine time!
I really love the simplicity of JobControlX, although I’m not the person to do a video about all its features – something I do plan on doing with an expert – it really has to be experienced first hand to be enjoyed. If you aren’t familiar with Trotec’s Speedy 400 – watch this video I made earlier… awesome machine!
I’m going to try to get one of these job estimates out the door on a far more regular basis – there is so much I can do with them just haven’t had the time… but if you have a bird needing a home, get yourself a CNC laser THEN the plans on CNCKing.com!
