Abacus B: New Laser Cutter Project

This is a new laser cutter project but an update to the 13th model I ever designed (I’m at well over a hundred now) that had a few issues. The first was the animation was older than the Earth itself – it needed a MAJOR refresh and while I was at it, I refined a few aspects of the design while keeping it accurate to my initial concept. Luckily for me, Abacus design isn’t something that changes very much through the centuries!

There was a slight mistake I noticed after uploading the animation, I put down the dimensions of the model being based off 6mm thick wood when they are actually based off 10mm thick material. I also played around a bit with acrylic – you can find this model in PDF, EPS, DXF and AI file formats right now at CNCKing.com under Laser Cutter Projects / Educational.

For fun, I’ve included the original abacus B animation to show you just how far things have gone in just the past four years! Incredible advances in computer technology and my own skills… quite drastic!
